In this tutorial, we are going to learn about importing an LC Bib record as a RIMMF Manifestation record when you know that it has a Work NAF record.
If you want to jump to this tutorial without doing the previous tutorials, follow the "Download Web Folder" instructions and download the following folder from our website:
If you intend to use this file to proceed through the remaining tutorials, remember that it is located in your '\RIMMF3\imports\zip' folder.
We are looking for the hit with the Uniform title: "Island Magic. Swedish" Because there is a Uniform title associated with this result, we need to search the 'Author. Uniform Title' heading, and bring in authority data before we bring in bibliographic data; because we want to use the 'authoritative data', from an Authority record, whenever we can find one.
Notice that there is no NAF record for the Work, only for the Swedish and French translations of it.
Notice that the Author is unchecked, because we have it in the EI already; and RIMMF will be creating the Work record from data in the NAF Expression record.
Notice that there isn't much data in this record; always try to add more data if you can. Remember that Wikipedia has useful data about this author and her works.
Notice the date for "Island Magic" is 1934. Return to the Work record
Now we need to check the Expression data. Notice that the Swedish title "Trollmakt" has been added to the Expression data; as a Variant Access Point (VAP) Let us say that we are fairly sure that this expression record is for textual content, and was first made available the date of the Source Consulted resource.
Notice that the Author, Work and Expression are unchecked, we have them all already, and the Manifestation data will be nicely linked to them, via the Expression record. Unfortunately, at this time, if there is additional Work or Expression information in the Bib record, you will have to add it manually.
Looks ok.
I can't see anything we can add to the Work or Expression record
See how the Tree is growing.
If you are finished playing with RIMMF for now, close RIMMF. If you want to proceed, go to Tutorial #12
