Clone record

To use an existing record as the basis for a new record (to save typing similar information all over again) you can copy the existing record as a 'cloned' record (aka a different edition record).

To clone a record:

  • Open the record you want to clone
  • Press 'File|Clone record'

A menu of templates will display:

Select a template from the list displayed, then press OK.
RIMMF will load the record being cloned into the selected template:

Change any data in the new record that does not apply to the entity being described, and add any new data necessary, as if you were creating a new record.

Notes

In RIMMF, the 'clone' process will:

  • Copy the current record
  • Assign a unique record control number to the new record
  • Delete the following from the new record:
    • Authorized Access Point/Composite key
    • 'Identifier for the …' elements
    • All 'Relationship' elements

You cannot clone a template; to copy a template for further customization use 'Save As … ' instead.
